What is the difference between a Near-Mint Condition (NM) and a Very Good Condition (VG) item?

Action Figure collectors have a specific way of describing the condition of items that they collect:

A Near Mint item describes an item which has a cardback (the paper card that a figure is attached to), blister (the plastic holder a figure is encased in) and the figure itself (and related accessories) that is free of all possible defects when looked upon from less than one foot away and is suitable for display purposes.

A Very Good item describes an item that may have minor defects (such as the shelf peg having been punched from the cardback or slight yellowing or glue-dryness to the plastic blister) but is otherwise generally free of defects when looked upon from one to three feet away yet is still suitable for display purposes.

There are other, lower conditions for figure collectors -- such as Good, Poor or Loose -- however, Empire Collectables does not sell these types of items because none of them are in our collection, so their descriptions are not listed here.

What is the difference between a Mint In Sealed Box/Bag (MISB) Condition and a Opened/Loose (OPEN) Condition item?

For non-action figure and larger items, such as prop replicas, role-playing game figures and busts, we use the Sealed versus Opened method of determining the quality of an item:

A Mint In Sealed Box (or Bag) item describes an item which has an untouched box or bag and is therefore shipped to the customer in exactly the same way we received it.

An Opened item describes an item that has been opened and checked by our staff to ensure the contents are not damaged or obscured in any way.

Being Star Wars ® collectors, we undertake the opening and inspection of any item very seriously and will document any faults or flaws with an item within the Product Description field of a product's information page.

Do I need an "Account" to order?

Not in the traditional sense. After adding items to your shopping cart, pressing "checkout" will take you to a page where you can open an internet account, simply follow the directions to enter your details, together with your shipping address and payment information. You will then receive a reciept of your order via e-mail after it has been confirmed by our ordering system.

What currencies do you offer payment in?

All prices on the website are in Australian Dollars (AUD) ($1AUD = ~ $0.74USD / ~ €0.61EURO / ~ $1.15NZD) and are quoted without the Australian Goods and Services Tax (GST).

What payment methods do you accept?

Any card or payment type that is accepted by Paypal is currently accepted.

Is my credit card information safe?

Empire Collectables uses Paypal to do it's payment processing, so the credit card details are only stored within your Paypal account and not on the Empire Collectables server.

When am I charged for an order?

You will not be charged for an item until it is in stock and is ready to be shipped to you.

What is the deal with "Pre Ordering" items?

Occasionally, things will be pre-ordered from overseas that are shipped in multiple units (like action figure cases, for example) -- because the operators of this website only often want some of the items, the rest are offered for pre-order on the website.

Because of the nature of this website, we do not have the facilities to pre-order specific items for people, only items that we are specifically interested in collecting will appear on the site.

Do you offer account terms / pay by installments?

No. Because this website offers pieces of a private collection for sale, we're not operating a business from it -- so all items must be paid for in full before they are shipped.

Can I pick my item up from you to save on shipping?

No. Again, we're not a business -- so there's no physical shopfront presence either.

If I am looking for a specific item, can I buy it from you?

Usually no. Although we have amassed a wide-range of collectables -- we do not collect everything in the Star Wars™ universe because not everything interests us.

There is one exception to this rule, if an item has been pre-sold out, we may be able to pre-order more of them. If there is a specific pre-ordered item you want, we strongly suggest you use the "Notifications" icon on the right-hand side of that item's page to alert the operators to the fact that obtaining more of those items would be beneficial to our customers.

Do you buy collections / individual items from collectors?

No.
